Sensei Edward Williamson is the founder and chief instructor of Jikaku-Do school of martial arts. Mr. Williamson began his martial arts training in 1979 at Sensei Casey’s Karate Dojo in Cork City Ireland. He studied for three years under Sensei Casey, in Shotokan Karate, before joining the Cork City Karate Club where he continued his training in Shotokan Karate until 1985.
Mr. Williamson moved to the United States in February 1985 and began training under sensei Gabriel Trance where he continued his martial arts training, often sparring with regional fighting champions.
In 1991 Mr. Williamson joined the Zen Bei Butoku-kai under Sensei Dennis Mann of Massapoag martial arts in Sharon Massachusetts. He trained in Shorinji-Ryu, under Sensei Mann and under sensei Mann’s teacher sensei Brian Ricci, for 15 years. During this time, Mr. Williamson attended many summer camps and weekend seminars taught by the founder of the Zen Bei Butoku-kai, Master Richard kim, and his top students.
Mr. Williamson has attained the level of Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in both Karate and Kobudo (weaponry). Mr. Williamson has had extensive training in Karate, Kobudo, Tai-Chi, Qi-Gong, and has also trained in Pa-Kua and Aiki-jitsu.
Mr. Williamson Has competed at the National and International level. In 1993 he competed at an all black belt National Karate Championship in Boston Massachusetts while at the green belt level, and in 2001, took first place in Kobudo at the Zen Bei Butoku-Kai Internationals in Las Vegas Nevada.
Mr. Williamson has had articles published in the martial arts magazine, “Martial Virtue”, and in the on-line magazine, Planet Light Worker
Mr. Williamson is a certified instructor in the RADKIDS personal empowerment and self defense program for children and the R.A.D. physical defense program for Women.
Mr. Williamson continues to train today with the Zen Bei-Butoku-Kai of North America, under some of Master Richard Kim’s top students including, Sensei Jemison and Sensei Sanford. He also trains with Tai-Chi Master Sifu Ken in Boston Massachusetts.
